I have now tried dozens of times to install the drivers for the MB5120 printer on my desktop computer. I finally found a clue after the installation was successful on my laptop and on my wife's computer. It turns out that an error message was opening underneath the installation window, so I never saw it.
The message says that a fax driver is running. I thought that I found the source of the problem, the old PaperPort scanner program (it is disabled in the startup list). I went into the registry and deleted the fax entries for PaperPort. I rebooted and cleaned the system with System Mechanic several times, but that error message keeps popping up and blocking the installation no matter what I have tried.
Does anyone have a suggestion for identifying the fax driver that is causing the problem?
