Error message: Printer offline

I continually get a message when I try to print saying the printer is offline.  I try the troubleshooter and it says the printer is turned off.  It's turned on.  It also says it should be set as the default printer.  It is.  It says it should be shared in my network. It is.  This printer has been the worst printer I've ever had.

In order to proeprly assist you, I will just need to know which specfic model Canon you own?  Additionally, what operating system are you running?
