I have lost the use of my Color ImageClass MF644Cdw that I use with my MacBook after I installed the Big Sur 11.5.2 update last night. When I went to scan a document, I got a message that says "You do not have permission to open the application "Canon MFScanner1". Contact your computer or network administrator for assistance."
Something like this always happens with the MacOS updates.
So I downloaded new printer and scanner drivers dated 9/1/21 from the Canon website. I restarted the computer and checked the Image Capture app that shows 0 devices and 0 shared.
Error log says: Unable to encrypt connection: Unable to establish a secure connection to host (-9806).
I've deleted and added the computer several times, and the last time it didn't even appear in a list to select.
UPDATE after initial message:
I found this page that helped get it working again: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT212756
It took another 15 mintues or so, but I was able to virtually reconnect my MacBook with the printer.
Why does this always happen? I think it's time to look for a more Mac-friendly printer.
Thanks.
