Canon Maxify MB2720 - new ink cartridge not recognized - support code 5501 - NEED HELP!

So I replaced a yellow ink cartridge just as the printer told me - I had to push that cartridge VERY hard to get it all the way in. Now I am getting this error code. I see many have had same problem but with other models, so I'm hoping someone can guide me who has experience with this model.

Hi luvmyblues,

 

Please disconnect the power cord for 30 minutes.  After that time, please reconnect the power cord and turn your printer on.
