Scammers Entered My PC Pretending to be Canon

Cannon Printer MG 2522

On May 1st, I was trying to download a cannon printer and Cannon's 'live chat'  sent me a tech who I allowed to enter my pc and he became irate and called me names, and a 'f..ing basterd' . I ask him to exit my PC and I closed the browser. When I went back on, he had destroyed my hard drive (Best Buy-Geek Squad) and posted something on my face book that got me permanently banned. I would hope Cannon would have monitor records that you could send to me or facebook to show that I was hacked via Cannon 'live chat'. Thank you/ Rich Shoenhair//Austin Co. (you have my email)

I'm old too. Getting old does not mean you stop making sense.

In your case it does. Your are seriously myopic and lacking in comprehension skills.

I did go to Best Buy Geek Squad... they said my hard drive was destroyed and they wanted $180 to restore my Windows 10. "Making Sense" would be to upgrade to Windows 11 at this point.

>"Daily ads from Canon"? Have someone look at these ads for you to see if they are real Canon ads or garbage, now that a scammer has your name. Stopping them could be an easy thing.<

I get it...Canon folks can insult me and I can't respond as to Canon's insults ? Thank you, Rich42

I had a crash on my old computer several years ago. Fortunately, I had a service contract with Staples. The tech guy said that viruses, worms, scams pop up faster than the anti people can handle. Cure one and there are a sackful to take their place.

I'm 77, too.

I understand 'birds of a feather'.
I was hacked by someone using a Canon website and logo. He destroyed my desktop PC and got me a permanent ban on face book because of what the hacker posted on face book. Why? (such vile anger he had)
> I must have shut him down before he got to my bank account?) I don't blame Canon per se, but the hacker operated in Canon's name. Canon has approx. 167k employee's and a market value of approx. 30 billion? I understand Canon would have no concern for anyone in a case such as mine...and none of you would understand until it happened to you.
Some poor sap who gets hacked under Canon's name, in Colorado, is of no consequence to Canon. Rich

Keep it up John, we have a long ways to go. Rich

>Old< computers that crash by attrition are one thing...computers that are destroyed by a hacker is another? I doubt that any worm cursed at you and called you vile names.

Rich

Hi Rich,

Just to recap and put an end to this thread. Canon USA did not hack your computer; you were speaking with a 3rd party operating under the guise of offering support. Canon USA does not work with 3rd parties and is not liable for actions from other companies. Please contact the authorities if you feel you have had a crime committed against you and consider seeking technical support for your computer via a local repair shop. You will need to contact Facebook support for concerns about that account.

If you need further help with your PIXMA MG2522, you can contact us on our official website, I've taken the liberty of linking to the account page HERE.
