Another report , I got scammed. Google searched for driver for new Canon printer (Model MF663Cdw). Took me to a site that had a copy of download page, when I tried to download got error message that said call a number for tech support,. They wanted access to my computer so they could check for what the problem and said for $199 they could fix it. I now know there have been lots of these reports. Just posting this to remind folks that they should never grant access to their computer. I've stopped all my credit cards, changed passwords, etc. When this happens you feel like an idiot. Will report to FCC. Name of company is Drivrhelp Solutions LLC. They also offered a permanent solution for $800 to $5,000 depending on services offered.

$199 is a red flag, IMHO.

"Took you to a site"? Didn't Google have a listing for Canon Support for the printer? You made a bad choice.

It was a fake site, where you could chat with a fake support person who then told you your computer was probably infected with a virus and he could have someone call me who could fix it. I realize this was a big mistake, but just want to warn others as it's a pretty authentic looking operation. They represent themselves as Canon employees.

Do NOT download ANY Canon drivers from anyplace other than Canon Support.
https://www.usa.canon.com/support
The Web is full of "authentic looking" sites, who will "represent themselves as Canon employees".

Or...tell them the check for $199 is in the mail.

Greetings ,
Unfortunately, there are quite a few posts from others who have failed to navigate or correctly identify a website or parties they allowed to access their devices.
Canon does not charge for driver downloads. We're very sorry this happened to you, but it is ultimately your responsibility to know the identity of any website you visit or party that you share personal or financial information with. This is no different from any website you visit on the internet.
If you provided these people (who are criminals) with credit card information, you should contact your financial institution. If you allowed them access to your PC, and are not comfortable with forensic analysis, you should have it checked by a qualified IT professional to ensure the security and integrity of your operating system.
While all of these stories are unfortunately, only you can protect your information and privacy.

If you paid with a credit card, just dispute the charges and have your cc account number changed and report it as a scamm.
