Recycling used inkjet cartridges: Fedex won't accept!

I just visited several local Fedex offices hoping to drop off some used Pro2100 ink cartridges for recycling per Canon's program (see screenshot below). All the locations were recommended from the Canon website. None had ever heard of the program. All said I was the first person ever to ask about it. They would not take the cartridges.

Even if this is a local anomaly (I'm in Northern California) someone needs to update the website!

Still confirmed, 2026, FedEx does not accept ink cartridges for recycling. Unacceptable. HP gives you postage paid envelopes. I'm not paying $10+ to ship them to you every couple of months. I can't even believe that's a suggestion. So now they're just going in the trash. Do better, Canon.

Same experience. The local FedEx employee was almost gleeful in telling me "No" they don't take the cartridges. The nearest Staples is far away. Plus, the last time I went in, those folks said they wouldn't take cartridges unless i had a member account with them. So i just left the empty inks in a bag inside their front door. So only option then is to spend 30 minutes (or more) going to the post office and $10 to ship these back to you. Unfortunately, these will go into the trash until there is a better solution. And please, remove FedEx as an option from your website. I wasted a lot of time going over there to try to do the right thing. Thank you,

I have taken empty cartridges to Staples for years. Turn them in...buy replacement cartridges.
