My 12 year old Canoscan 8800f has suddenly stopped working. When I press the power button a light comes on inside, but after a bit of whiring it goes out and the scanner switches off. Is there a solution or should I buy a new scanner?

I would still get a new one. They aren't too expensive and they have added a lot of features such as LED bulbs and instant on.

I would get a new more up-to-date scanner.

Thanks for your reply. I ran Repair from the installaton disk and the scanner now works fine.
