Learning by looking at the photo information of pictures

Ok, so I'm new and learning, but what I like to do is look at other photos of subjects that I like and I try to guess the ISO, Shutter speed, aperture and the focal length before I bring up the photo information.

The exposure program is usually in manual mode.

I'm sure some of you are pro's and can do this perfectly, but this really helps me try to put it all together.

I usually can get some of the parts right and if I'm off, only by a step or two.

Of course this doesn't mean much until I can take a similar picture.

Just thought I would share.....

Flickr is a great source for this.

And it has many uses.

You can use it to recreate a look, as you mentioned.

Want to buy a lens for basketball? Look through basketball pictures on Flickr to see what focal length and aperture were used on the photos you like.

Yes, I'm looking at horse racing photos from track photographers. They are professional pics, but it gives me an idea of what shot they were going for and for the photo specs.......

Flickr is my next stop......

Just need to win the lottery......

Gee, I can't do that.  Must be because I'm no pro.  Check out this article to really understand why.

In fact, at the bottom of the page you will find all of the articles by that author.  Check out all of them.

Thank you, I read a lot, watch videos, listen to advice and I'm trying to absorb it all.

Taking pictures is the best teacher as I look at my shot and shake my head at times, but then there's one or two that I really love.

It's fun, as you know.....

Well maybe I shouldn't have said 'pros'.

The more experienced shooters can look at a picture and figure out some of the settings.

I find it a fun challenge to do.
