I would have thought it would have been the other way around, with RED acquiring the Nikon photo business.
I guess Nikon got jealous of the Cinema Series.

Agree. This will put them into the Cinema space, but only for a subset of users. They could start putting "RED Raw" into the camera's, but C-Log and CinemaRaw will remain on top. Canon also has a mature line of Cinema series lenses. Canon has new Cinema cameras coming (rumor). The C-70 was the only RF mount available. The 24-105 Z was certainly developed with still and video in mind.
