Images I Posted On This Forum That Are Being Used As Examples For A Lens On A Polish Website.

The site is "ubuy dot com" and the lens they are selling is the RF 100mm Macro. I did try to contact them so I could at least get credit for the work, but their "Contact Us" page would not complete the task when I pressed "Send". They even scrubbed all of the EXIF data that had copyright and owner info. Go figure 😆

Some of the images I posted in the Gallery (here) and some were from various posts about the RF 100mm Macro where I shared examples. All were taken from the Canon USA Forum.

I guess I'm going to have to start watermarking, LOL!

I found them because I hate to not name the subjects that I shoot. I was double checking to see if I had properly named a tiny orchid that I had shot and was using the Google Search feature that allows photos, so I dropped in the photo and was surprised to see my exact same shot as hit on a couple of pages, the Polish site and the Canon USA forums, in relation to the RF 100mm Macro post. I wasn't surprised to see the forum post and image, but to see 10 of my shots as examples on a sales page was a bit odd.

I don't really have a problem with this subject, but I would have liked for ubuy to post info about the shots. Some were focus stacked and some were shot with really high ISO settings, so they are misleading. Not everyone has the luxury of being able to use really high ISO with little ill effects.

Anything about proprietary issues here? Curious.

John, I would think so since the images were used for monetary gain, but I'm not sure about how international copyright laws work. After my wife and I thought about it, it just wouldn't be worth the trouble to even mess with and I definitely don't want to get lawyers involved over photos that I will never sell.
