I have a win7 machine - an old acer aspire - and I recently installed the Win7 driver for the Canoscan LIDE20 we have here and plugged it in.
The scanner shows up find in Printers/Scanners.
Windows sees the scanner itself whenever I plug it into another USB port.
Everything seems fine but the software I use can't find it: NAPS2 and Windows Fax and Scan.
Device manager reports the device is working okay.
But I just had a fiddle with it and I notice that it lights up when first plugged in and if I then push the 'scan' button on the scanner itself it jerks around a little bit - moves maybe a quarter of inch - and then goes back to park and switches the lights off..
Hardware fault? Scanner dead?
