CanoScan LiDE 120 error: "Cannot read file. Code:13,243,0"

Just purchased a CanoScan LiDE 120. Installed drivers yesterday and scanned without issue. Today, I went to scan again, and every time I try to scan with the Photo setting, I receive the following error message:

Cannot read file.

Code:13,243,0

Scanning with the Auto Scan setting seems to work OK, though.

I've already re-installed drivers, and I've tried scanning using a different account on my computer. No luck.

I'm using a Macbook Pro Retina (Late 2013) and running OS X 10.11.2 El Capitan.

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi mercury613,

If you are initiating the scan process from the scanner buttons, please ensure that the IJ Scan Utility program is open on your computer prior to using the scanner buttons.  You can also try changing the save location of the scanned photos prior to scanning.  Should you still experience difficulty, please call 1-866-261-9362, Monday - Friday 10:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. ET (excluding holidays) and a Canon technical support representative will be happy to help.  There is no charge for this call.

I just had the same problem, which suddeny started occuring after many successful scans. I tried the solution suggested by the other forum member but it did not work.

After some experimentation it looks as though this error occurs with larger file sizes. I'd scanned two 4x6" photos without problem, but two 5x7" photos caused the problem. Scanning one 5x7" photo along worked successfully.

So if you scan smaller photos or at lower DPI the scan will likely work. Hope that helps. And Canon, hope that helps you create a more useful error message.
