which model to upgrade from T3i?

Hello,

I am planning to upgrade my existing camera T3i.  My budget is about $1500-$1700. I am not a professional photographer. I just need to take good photos of my family (within and around the house and at family events) and use it for travel to tourist destinations within and outside USA. No wildlife photography although i would love to capture some nature photos when out and about visiting tourist places and occasionally on hikes. The main complaint with my current photos is that they are variable and does not work in low light within different parts of the house where i use it mostly.  I mostly use AUTO setting although i would love to explore with manual settings. After my research, i have decided to enter the mirrorless world and have narrowed it down to R8 body (about $1299) and use an adaptor ($129) to use my existing lenses (18-55 and 70-300mm) and buy RF50mm f1.8 for low light conditions as well as for using when visiting tourist destinations ($200)  and buy some extra batteries  and a V90 card (additional $200). As you can see I am already stretching my budget!  Any other suggestions for this new buy? would you anything else?

I figured I would throw it out there for consideration. You mention the R6 vs. the R6 MkII, there are some fairly significant advancements in the R6 MkII so if at all possible and if the budget allows go with the MkII.

kiranp, It sounds like you have done your homework. Since you mention shooting in low light and if you can swing it you may want to look at the R6 MkII, it performs better in low light out of all the cameras under the $2K price point. There is a body in Canon refurbished right now for $1800 but they go fast. I love mine and it is my primary body when I know I will be shooting in low light conditions. Also, you can save a couple dollars and go with V60 cards unless you are going to be shooting video. I don't not shoot video and all the v60 cards (Lexar and Sandisk) perform without failure.

Thanks March411!  Appreciate your feedback. R6 is very tempting. I can put off buying 50 prime and buy an adaptor for my existing EF lenses to use it with R6 (and later upgrade the lenses). Its going to be about $700 more than R8 (and only $200 more for the NEW than the refurbished).
