Which Of The EL Speedlights Is Closest to the 600 EX II RT?

I've done some research, but admittedly, I'm easily distracted 🙂 I like the features of the 600 EX II RT and would like to have the same in a new flash for my R5 II and R6 II. I'm still using the 600 on the R5 and 6 IIs, I just have to do some things by setting up the light manually.

It would either be Speedlite EL-1 or EL-5 (both have the same guide number as the 600 EX series). Would be best to compare the features of those two in their respective Specifications section to see which features you'd need. As you know, there's quite a price difference between the two. But if overall power is the most important aspect, both should deliver.

Side note: I'm assuming that the 600 series flashes have continued to work for you and you've not been plagued by the link drop issues over the past few years.

Thank you, Ricky!

Although I bought the RT version, I've only used that feature a few times and it has never dropped during hours of use. But I will say that I seldom have the same issues with my gear that others experience, be it computers, software, camera gear, etc. I like and use the "focus" feature (up to 200mm) the most but also like the way the 5D IV and 600 senses bounce and diffusion when I have the accessories engaged or attached. It also fills perfectly. I don't even have to think about power settings, it just works. I'm sure I set things up in the beginning to work that easily, but honestly, I don't remember.

I'm not a big flash user or fan for that matter, but like to have one when I need it and the easier it interacts with my camera the better, LOL! Typically, I only need extra light when I'm shooting staged macro, then I use several LED panels, which are pretty cool and allow me to change brightness and temperature via remote control. My wife makes fun of me for being so lazy, heh heh. They are battery powered (Sony NP-F550), so I don't have to be near a power source.

Once again, thank you for responding. I'll probably go with the EL 5. I don't mind spending for lenses and cameras because I will use the fire out of them, but a grand for a flash is a bit much, even for me 🙂
