Hello,
I am learning my new Rebel T7 camera and it came with a 18-55mm lens and a 75-300mm 1:4 - 5.6 lens. These came in the bundle with the camera.
We are trying to capture my son playing ice hockey. So it would be indoors and well lit. It’s fast paced so we are interested in getting another lens to help take better photos. Not trying to break the bank, so something that is affordable. $500-$800 range.

"Look at the various settings and take lot of photos."
Tintype_18,
I agree that experience is the best teacher but I have to put a caveat on that statement. As a music teacher in my other life there is the "practice makes perfect" theory. But in reality it should be "perfect practice makes perfect". Simply playing your instrument or using your camera in this case can lead to better results, sure. But a much better idea is to have a structured plan where you try known settings first and study the results for instance. Guessing and trying is one way for certain but perhaps not the best most efficient way. Learn the basics and baby steps.
