24-70mm alternatives

Hi! I shoot with Canon R8, have a 50mm 1.8 (love) and a 100-400mm 5.8-8 that I’m just a little underwhelmed with. I sold my 24-70m2 before moving to Vietnam for a little extra cash, plus it was rather big and heavy. But I miss it every day! What would be a good, affordable and lighter alternative?

Greetings ,

Are we talking about the RF28-70 f2?

The RF 24-70 f2.8 refurbished might check many of your boxes.  Lighter weight, L series build quality at a lower price.

Canon also makes an RF 28-70 f2.8 non L lens that's even less.

Can you define "affordable".  What's your actual budget?

I’ll try to help you here, but first, let me ask you a few questions: what are you interested shooting at? stills or video? A full frame deserves a full frame lens. it makes your lens choice work its capability. when it comes to making a purchase, it really depends on what you’re trying to achieve- portrait, landscape, sports, even family photos; they are all different from the artist-shooter’s perspective and goal. A kit lens has always been a very good start. It helps you learn, discover, and train your skill shooting anything- near or far. I suggest you start there and find out what your needs are: a portrait lens? a family picture lens, a landscape or travel lens, or an all-around carry? Good luck!
