TS700: alternating gray / white bars on subsequent papers after first page

I printed a 4 page document using letter glossy as I needed quality images.  The pages printed last to first.  The last page was a spread sheet that had alternating bars of gray / white due to a grid being used.  Unaccountably, traces of those bars were very visible in subsequent images on the last two pages.  It was as if the image had been "retained" on the "drum" which is impossible.  I rebooted the printer and subsequent prints did not have any trace of the grid pattern.  I do not know what could have caused it. My friendly AI said it was a clogged printhead but also mentioned a toner which is not possible. The printer actually paused just after starting the 3rd page.  The 3rd page was the first of the two color images that I needed.  It paused for a full 20 or so seconds.  I have never seen the paper pause when printing so something strange happened.

Thanks for joining the conversation, jstateson!

So that the Community can help you better, we need to know exactly which Canon printer model you're using within the PIXMA TS700 series.  The model number should appear on the front of the unit at the bottom right corner. That, and any other details you'd like to give will help the Community better understand your issue!

If this is a time-sensitive matter, click HERE search our knowledge base or find additional support options HERE.

Thanks and have a great day!

Run all of these, together they should help prevent this issue from happening again:

Cleaning Functions of the Canon TS700 Series Printer

The Canon TS700 series printer includes several essential cleaning functions designed to maintain optimal print quality. These functions help address common printing issues such as faint or uneven prints.

Print Head Cleaning

Print head cleaning is crucial for unclogging nozzles that may be blocked, which can lead to missing lines or streaks in printed documents.

  • When to Use: If printing results are unsatisfactory or specific colors fail to print.
  • How to Perform:
    1. Ensure the printer is turned on.
    2. Access the maintenance menu via the Setup button.
    3. Select "Cleaning" and press OK.
    4. Wait for the cleaning process to complete (approximately 1 minute).
    5. Print a nozzle check pattern to verify improvement.

If issues persist after two cleaning attempts, a Deep Cleaning can be performed for a more thorough solution.

Bottom Plate Cleaning

This function is designed to clean the inside of the printer, which can accumulate dirt and affect print quality.

  • When to Use: If printed pages show smudges or dirt.
  • How to Perform:
    1. Prepare a new sheet of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper.
    2. Ensure the printer is on and remove any paper from the cassette.
    3. Fold the paper and load it into the cassette.
    4. Access the maintenance menu and select "Btm Plate Cleaning."
    5. Follow the prompts to complete the cleaning.

Paper Feed Roller Cleaning

Cleaning the paper feed rollers is necessary if paper is not feeding correctly due to dirt or debris.

  • When to Use: If paper jams or misfeeds occur.
  • How to Perform:
    1. Turn on the printer and remove any paper.
    2. Access the maintenance menu and select "Roller Cleaning."
    3. Follow the prompts to clean the rollers with and without paper.
