EOS Webcam Utility 2.0 not working since upgrade to MacOS 13 (Ventura)

I uninstalled the old (1.1) version, rebooted, installed the new version, rebooted again, and it still does not work.

This is all I see...

Update - 2.0.30 allegedly works with Ventura, but when I install it, I have the same error.  The regular EOS utility for remote shooting does work, and the key element of the screenshot is that it doesn't have the USB symbol with the X, so something else is going on.

And going back to 1.1 solves the problem.
