wide, low light camera gear for events/clubs

Hi folks, I have the opportunity to buy a completely new setup and I'm a bit stumped as to what to get! I'll mostly be working concerts and events but would love to be able to utilise non flash photography as much as possible.

Currently I'm looking at an R5 but probably overkill in could do with being sensible with my money factoring in new lenses. Maybe a 5D mk IV?

Any event photographers on here? Got any good suggestions with supporting arguments?

Cheers!

OP mentioned in the opening post about he R5 vs the 5D Mark IV. If the OP were to buy the R6 they would be saving money over the 5D Mark IV. To put toward lenses, adapters and other accessories such as a speedlite.

Ah, I see!  Fair enough!!  🤔 I hope we all agree that the DSLR is not the best way to go for a new fitout. As I noted in my first post, I think we are on the same page as regards using good quality legacy glass. I don't live in the US, so I tend not pursue actual relative dollar values there, so I am glad you have a handle on that.  It makes the R6 seem even better IMHO.

The mark of good photographer is less what they hold in their hand, it's more what they hold in their head;

I would agree with you. I steer new people entering photography to the EOS R series. Instead of a digital Rebel/ xxxxD or xxxD camera.
