I tried changing lenses and also adjusting the exposure compensation which helps in P, TV, or AV modes but that does not work for the fully auto or no flash modes. Help!

First reset the camera to factory defaults. Or you can do a Clear all settings and a Clear all Custom settings. These functions are in the Menu. Now go out and try it. Let me know how it responded.

Can you post an example photo. It's even better if you can post an example photo which still has all of the camera's embedded EXIF data in the image (we have browser plug-ins which will let us view the EXIF data to determine what settings teh camera actually used.)
