back button not working- R5 mark 2

I have my R5 Mark 2 set up so the AF Select Button (far right button) accesses Register/Recall Shooting Function which in turn is set to Spot focusing. It works fine for the setups I have in  Modes M, C1, C2. However C3 is set up for AEB (Automatic Exposure Bracket) and the Spot Focus does not work.. It doesn't make sense to me but if I change the C3 to some other shooting mode the Spot focus will work as described. Seems like a strange anomaly.

Each Custom Shooting Mode is configured independently of the other custom modes.  Also, the camera keeps track Custom Shooting Modes for Sylls independently of Custom Shooting Modes for video.  That’s a total of 6.

This does not seem to offer much explanation. I should say that I misspoke slightly when I used the word Mode in relation to changing settings in C3. In C3 I turned off the AEB and then tried the same back button to access Register/Recall Shooting function as before and the Spot Focus worked. It would seem that something about the AEB setting is blocking the Spot focus when that button is used.

I am not sure if you can AEB to a single control.  There’s far more to it than on and  off.

AEC - Auto Exposure Compendstion 👍🏼

AEB - Auto Exposure Bracketing 👎🏼

Are talking about the same thing?  One can be assigned to a button and one cannot.

Thank you Waddizzle for your interest but I don't think you understand the issue and its more of a curious issue than critical. As stated before I have C3 set up for AEB (not AEC). In my M, C! and C2 (which are not set up for AEB) I have the  AF Select Button (far right button) set to  accesses Register/Recall Shooting Function which in turn is set to Spot focusing and it works fine. HOWEVER, when C3 is set to AEB, the far right button does not work as in the other modes. And as i stated before when I change C3 to something besides AEB the far right button works. I find this strange. I am still using AEB in C3 and changed the shutter button to Spot Focus to get around the problem

“ In my M, C! and C2 (which are not set up for AEB) I have the  AF Select Button (far right button) set to  accesses Register/Recall Shooting Function which in turn is set to Spot focusing and it works fine. HOWEVER, when C3 is set to AEB, the far right button does not work as in the other modes.

if AF Select button in C3 mode doesn’t do what you expect, then what exactly does it do?

Did you program the button to have a custom function in C3 mode?

The AF Select button brings up the small square with middle dot,  does not focus and the square does not turn blue . In other modes eg C1 the small square turn blue and you can often hear the lens focusing.
