Why does my Canon R5 record still images at 24 meg or less when it is set to record Raw at 45 meg?

Is the camera set to C-RAW by any chance? If so the megapixels will be lower.

What lens are you using if you're using an adapted EF-S lens or RF-S lens the camera is put into crop mode. Limiting how many megapixels you'll have. Since the entire image sensor is not covered by the lens' image circle.

Thanks Demetrius. I use RF lenses, so that's not it. I appreciate it, though.

Make sure the camera is not in crop mode.

Can you show us a picture of how you're determining what megapixels the camera is outputting. Or are you mistaking megabytes. Can you please please provide the EXACT model name of the lens. Saying "RF 24-105mm" is NOT a COMPLETE name. Canon has made multiple lenses with that name so an exact name is needed. A complete name would be RF 24-105mm F/2.8L IS USM Z lens.

In APS-C mode it would only be 17 megapixels then instead of 24 megapixels. I'm wondering if they mean megabytes? Or do they have there RAW/ JPEG settings incorrect. But you're on to something Bill.

It is set to Full under aspect ratio.

Keep thinking though. I need and appreciate your help.

The file sizes are not consistent. Some are 24 meg, some are lower, llke this set I took on Friday. 7/18

The lens used here was the 24-105 that came with the R5 in a kit.

Are you sure you're not confusing megabytes and megapixels those are NOT the same thing. Every file can be different sizes they won't always be the same. In your picture "KB" mean Kilobytes which has nothing to do with megapixels. Now "MB" means Megabytes and NOT megapixels.
