Hey if anybody has issues about using on camera flash and how to use it just do what I did and purchase some books on the subject. You see I wasn't satisfied with how my photos looked and decided that it had to do with lighting. I was raised on flash with the instamatics and Polaroid camera. Don't be afraid to use it and learn how to experiment and develop your own style.
Check out these simple practice shots I worked on this summer.

The best book, now a bit out of date, is Syl Arena's Speedilighter's handbook.

If you have the original version of that book, check the Sincere thanks are owed to many paragraph just before the chapter outlines in the front of the book. Specifically near the bottom of the first column 😉

Fotogrni61,
When I first got my T8i, I wasn't sure I was going to like manually raising the flash, but now, I wouldn't have it any other way.
When you want to use it, you just raise it up; and if you are in a low-light situation, a little icon pops up telling you that it's needed. There's no more jarring, slapping sound when you press a little button and it snaps up in your face.
