No White Balance option on Canon Camera Connect app

Hi folks

EOS90D

Following a recent thread on picture style settings and an interesting discussion on straight out of camera (SOOC) photography, I was drawn to using White Balance while composing a photograph. Hands up, I have not really got to grips with this option, and have gotten confused with the WB braketing feature - and basically left it alone - till now.

At the same time, I've started using the Shoot option to overcome screen glare. But on my Samsung set up, I don't seem to have the While Balance option on the Shoot screen.

So my question is, is there a way around this?

Ramsden,

I don't know about the Samsung and the "shoot option". Is that some kind of tethered shooting?

But one thing you can do is put your camera in Live View, hit the Q button to go into your Quick Menu settings, and choose your Kelvin temperature White Balance. Using your arrow keys, you can rapidly go up and down the temperature scale and pick a temperature that suits you to express your creative vision.

Lower temperatures will bring out the cooler blues and yellows. Higher temperatures will bring out the warmer greens and reds.

You can settle on a specific temperature, and then go into a tethered shooting scenario.

I suggest setting the camera to save raw as well as JPG even when the goal is SOOC.

Then, while experimenting with white balance, one can do the same white balance bracketing in the camera. https://gdlp01.c-wss.com/gds/3/0300036243/01/eos90d-ug-en.pdf

The "RAW Image Processing" section of your camera manual, pages 364-367. You can set white balance to the options listed on page 222 of the manual.

This will get you more than one SOOC JPG from the same shutter click.

Thanks for all your help.

Just for clarification here's a photo of my ipad and camera, where you can see  the white balance settings on the live view screen, but its not on my ipad. So basically, can I get the WB to show on my ipad. I'm trying to avoid messing around on the camera, in often awkward places, and select the best WB setting from my ipad or phone.

Thanks

The Cannon Connect app on my android phone or on my iPad has an "AWB" icon in live view shooting. When I press on this, I can change white balance.

Also, Apple photos on the iPad can process most Canon raw files and change white balance.
