Unable to register EOS R6 Mark II from iPro Photo LLC, are they legitimate?

Hi Team,
I purchased a Canon EOR R6 M2 body from  iPro Photo LLC . After a month, when I tried to register it on Canon, it failed due to the serial number verification. Their description about the product said it's a USA authorized product, but it looks like it's not and I believe it's some grey market item. Does anyone else have the same issue? How can I register my product? One more question, I saw "iPro Photo LLC" as Canon's Authorized dealer from this link . I still dont think they are reliable retailer.

If it is a legitimate U.S. market product, it will have the proper Canon warranty card inside.  It sounds gray market and storefronts play lots of games with their description.  The R6 M2 is certainly a U.S. authorized product but the particular one you purchased sounds like it was intended for distribution to another part of the world.

Unless you received a price discount large enough to make the risk worthwhile, I would certainly return it for refund if possible.  I bought a 5DS R body via a gray market supplier and I knew that before I bought it.  I wouldn't hesitate to have purchased one of the classic DSLR bodies from a gray market supplier but there is no way I would touch a R series without the Canon factory warranty.

If the product was misrepresented AND the retailer refuses to make it right, your credit card issuer might be of assistance.  Retailers authorized as Canon dealers have in the past sold Canon gray market products; I recall when some of the big NYC retailers offered a choice with a discount for the gray market.  I don't know whether Canon has changed that policy to better "police" their dealers but even if they have it is very easy for a reseller to set up a sub-corporation to handle the gray market side of things.

The authorized dealer list from August 2025 shows iPro Photo as an authorized Canon dealer.  However, there seems to be two, one in Michigan and one in New Jersey.  It could be the same company that moved its business location.

Or the one in Michigan which has a listing as an Amazon marketplace seller may not be the same. 🤔

As Rodger said, your product should have a US warranty card.  If it doesn't or if it's from another region, you'll need to take the matter up with iPro Photo.  I have seen authorized dealers selling grey market products, but they should identify the product as such.  I did see posts doing a Google search that said they sell grey market items without notifying people.  However, I'm not sure if this is the same seller. 🤔

If you indeed have a US product you'll be able to get assistance from Canon support.  1-800-652-2666

As of the published list date 6/24 (last update) Link to Canon Authorized Dealers iPro Photo LLC is an authorized dealer.

Have you tried to register your product through your My Account yet. If you have and it failed I would give Canon support a call @ 800-652-2666. If it is gray you my want to let the Canon Rep know that you purchased from an authorized dealer and received gray market.
