5D Mark IV: Tether and interval timer

LyndseyMac

Hi!
Trying to see of there is a way or workaround to what I want to do. Camera is the 5D Mark IV

Aa self portrait artist I have found the easiest/best way for me is to use the interval timer. I can set up to do 30 or so images then go and check. Of course I can’t see what I am doing from my side of the camera. I have tried using live preview with a monitor- but then the interval function is disabled.

I would love a way to take an image and SEE the image on a monitor from my pose without the constant back and forth.

Any ideas?

A few options for you...

  1. Use a mirror behind the camera and have the camera show the last image on the LCD, then angle the mirror so you can see what is on the LCD.
  2. Connect the camera to a mobile / tablet and use Canon camera connect app with the images sent to the device as they are shot.
  3. Connect the camera to a computer using WiFi or USB and use EOS Utility, it will transfer the images from the camera to the computer and you can see a full-screen preview on the laptop if you choose. You might find that it is quicker to set the camera to shoot RAW + small JPG and only send the JPG to EOS Utility as that speeds up the time to preview the captured image. (EOS Utility can also remotely trigger the shutter like your interval timer).
