Self Timer Light

When shooting at night and have 2 second dely shutter a flashing light goes until picture taken. Very annoying at night. Is there a way to shut off.?

The best way to shut it off is probably never turn it on.  Use remote shutter switch.

When I am doing night sky photography I use a small piece of gaffer tape and cover over the self timer light and the card write light.
