Neither of the two wireless DSLR controllers that I'm aware of, the camranger <http://www.camranger.com> and the k-circle <http://www.lockcircle.com> support the 1DC. Even the wired remotes like the okii <http://www.okii.net/> don't list the 1DC as compatible. In our tests, we couldn't get the okii to work with more than 6 meters of USB, probably because longer cables use a repeater.
One obvious wired remote is the EOS utility software running on a laptop, but I'm under the impression that the EOS utility software doesn't currently support triggering live view and video record on the 1DC. Is that true or has it changed? Does anyone have tips on running this software at a distance of 20-100 meters? Anyone have an idea if the software would function with an ethernet, LAN, or fibre extender from Icron. http://www.icron.com/products/icron-brand/usb-extenders/
Other ideas?
Thanks in advance.
I posted this on the cinema list as well, but got no responses.

Hi, your only option is to use Canon WFT-E6 wireless receiver and an iPad as controller. Basically the WFT unit creates an Ad Hoc network and the iPad controls the camera via a EOS Utility web interface. Because it support 802.11abg the range is very good (with minimal obstruction).
The unit is a bit pricy though, but could be very handy.

Yes, the WFT E6 is compatible with both 1D X and 1D C, they offer same functions for wireless camera control and still image transfer. It's not designed to transfer video files.
I've used it with 1D C in my studio and it performs very well (all exposure control, record start/stop, liveview@2fps).
