Team,
Need your help and advise in figuring out the overheating issue with my R6 FW 1.5.2. I set it up at 4K 25.00P light IPB and do not use Canon log and AF mode. Primarily use my camera indoors to make 60-90secs videos.
When I select 4K 25P Light (ipb), I see the total record time as 2:15:47. when I go to shooting mode screen, The shooting time display is 20:00 or 25:00 or 29:59. This keeps reducing drastically as I start shooting.
I shoot approx 25-30 clips of 10secs each before the camera displays the overheating icon and stops recording. This is very disappointed as I was informed I can record upto 30mins of 4k videos. I use CS Express 64gb memory card. I also cleared all settings. No luck.

Do you switch the camera out of video mode between takes?

Thanks for your response Waddizzle.
I use the LCD as live view/monitor and its ON between the shots. I hit the record button on LCD screen and then hit stop once I'm done. My prep time between shots is approx 1-2mins. I do cooking videos.
I have the power saving display off set for 1min. Pressing the shutter button brings the live view back on LCD. My room temperature is at 25-26c. I do not use artificial lights.

I guess that mean that it stays in video mode the entire time. TRy switching the camera out of video mode between takes.

It does remain on video mode as I hardly take a min to prep between the shots. I also have the viewfinder, display and auto-off timer to 1min. So if my next shot is delayed by more than a minute, the display goes off.
Can the heating issue be anything to do with the SSD card? Currently using 64GB Scandisk Extreme pro 300mb/s V90.
Also, the 29.59 time displaying on the LCD assuming it's the remaining time on a 4k doesn't change even if I switch up to FHD 25fps. Any thoughts on this one?

Try letting the camera’s image sensor rest between shots. Take it out of video mode, so that the rear screen is no longer displaying an image. Try that.

Thanks for the tip. Im gone give this a shot. mind sharing your views on the display timing query I have raised? 🙂

Greetings Dsouza,
I'm sorry to hear that your EOS R6 camera is overheating. While the camera is powered on and in use, it will generate heat due to use of the sensor and processor. The camera's overheat protection may prevent the user from recording video if the camera senses the temperature may be too high to operate in this mode.
The environmental operating temperature for the camera would be between 32 degrees Fahrenheit and 104 degrees Fahrenheit. Please note that the camera body may absorb more heat and have trouble dissipating heat if used in hot environments. For example, if the camera is placed under studio lights that produce heat or if the camera is placed near other devices that produce heat. We would suggest to remove any sort of enclosure or case that the camera may be wrapped in while in use to determine if that may be causing for the camera to retain heat.
If the issue persists then we would suggest to send your EOS R6 camera to our facility for service.
