R6 IBIS not working with some lens

beastbeef

So the option for IBIS doesn't exist in the menu for these lenses I have on my R6,

RF 70-200 2.8

EF 100-400 L II

Tamron 24-70 2.8 G2

and only appears for,

EF 50 1.8

R6 and all lenses are all on the latest firmware.

What is going on...

Hi beastbeef,

Thanks for checking in with us.

The Image Stabilization option in the camera's menu will only appear for lenses that don't have built-in IS. If a lens does have IS, then IS can be enabled by the switch on the lens.

I'm sorry, but that doesn't make sense.

So what you're saying is IBIS won't work with IS lenses? The newest and best RF 70-200 f2.8 won't work with IBIS?

And why are you acting like I'm stupid? Of course, IS is turned on the lenses.

Like I see the "IS mode" menu, but there's only Digital IS.

Check out this thread.

EOS R5, R6, R6II. RF 15-35 f/2.8L, 50mm f/1.2L, 85mm f/1.2L, 100mm f/2.8L Macro, 100-400mm, 100-500mm L, 1.4X.

Can you please explain the logic here? I was under the impression that IBIS is more effective than IS in the lens. So why would that not be available? Is my assumption wrong about ISIS vs IS in lens?
