Hi All,
Yesterday I covered my son's confirmation at church. During the service, the camera overheated and shut down, and I let it cool down for a while before reusing it. When I got home last night and tried to transfer the videos and images from the card, I could only find images but no videos. When I connected the camera directly to the computer, I could transfer the video files by right-clicking the camera icon in Windows Explorer. Still, the main body of work was not viewable. However, I can play the videos on the camera, but they will not play when transferred. It would be greatly appreciated if you could provide any guidance on this subject.

Is the video player app on your computer compatible with the file type that the videos were recorded in?
Maybe download and use Canon DPP4.

Aside from the issue being addressed by my respected colleague John, I am curious about your R5 overheating. That was an issue with video early on, but has apparently long since been resolved with firmware updates. To avoid any such issues and frustrations in the future, I recommend checking your Firmware Version and, if necessary updating to the current version 2.0.0 (all updates are cumulative). You can get that from this link:

Is the camera set to record videos with HDR PQ enabled? If so then it encodes the videos with the H.265 format, this is quite hard for a lot of computers to playback. The computer needs graphic card that can handle this kind of file, or it needs to be converted to a different compression type.
