R5 mark II: Live Streaming gives HDMI Settings error

flyingron

I've tried nine ways to sunday to get this thing to work with the webcam or other utility.   Putting a USB cord  in causes the camera to show a laptop and battery icon, but nothing happens on the computer end (unlike with my RP).

If I go through the menus and try the "Live Streaming" option, it pops up an error saying "Restricted by the following settings:  HDMI settings."   Only HDMI setting I ever touched was to switch from AUTO to 1080p and back.   Tried master resetting the camera.   Still have no idea why this gets wedged there.

You don’t need to use the Webcam Utility at all when you set the USB connection to video calls/streaming. The camera itself has all tne protocol necessary to appear as a webcam.

Had to create an account just to respond to this because I too struggled with this odd message but I did end up finding how to fix it.

First make sure you are in video mode and then in the menu go to the first menu tab, the camera one, and over to the 10th sub section, the last one. There you will find an option called "HDMI display" and click it. There are two options under that, one has a camera + a monitor and the other is just a monitor. You have to set it on the one with just a monitor. That allows live streaming without HDMI (wifi live streaming).
