R5 Mark II - Less than a week old, won't stay turned off.

I have an interesting problem.

My new R5 Mark II body won't stay turned off, and won't even turn off sometimes.

I can force it off if I push the switch harder towards the off position, but then I let go, and the camera comes back on.

I'm only using Canon batteries. No 3rd party items other than the memory cards of course.

It happens with and without the BG-R20 attached.

I did a factory reset - still happens

It feels like this is an issue with the physical switch, unless I'm missing something?

The firmware has also been updated to 1.0.3. I didn't notice the issue before that, but it wasn't doing this until at least 24 hours after the update happened. It was fine yesterday.

Greetings,

I haven't heard of any reports about this.  If you are able to reproduce the behavior consistently by applying additional pressure on the on/off switch, it sounds like a mechanical failure.  I'd return it to the seller for exchange.

I am having the same issue. I can force it off if I push the switch harder towards the off position, but then I let go, and the camera comes back on. And my battery is dead after leaving it in the camera over the weekend while in the off position. started at 100%

This was an issue straight out of the box. I thought it might be a new feature to always have the display on but then the shutter would open and close randomly as well.

Greetings,

If you leave Wireless and Bluetooth on continuously that could kill your battery...  However, if you have to hold the on off switch to the off position for the camera to remain turned off...then follow my advice above. That is not normal.
