R5 Auto ISO bug in FV mode

Shooting with with newer R5 in FV mode with ISO set to Auto. ISO in Auto repeatedly “locks” the ISO to Max (in my case 12,800) and won’t change ISO at all to without cycling power. Is this a firmware bug or am I in need of warranty repair?

PS: Firmware on the R5 is 1.9.0

Welcome to the forum!

If you have not yet downloaded a copy of the Instruction Manual, you can download it here.  My gut feeling is that exposure is getting locked somehow, and staying locked.

You will need to provide a lot more information about your camera settings and shooting conditions so that we can better understand your issue.  The Fv mode is a hybrid of the other modes, P, Av,Tv, and M.  Only describing ISO does not tell us much.  What are your settings for Av and Tv?

For now, I recommend NOT using Fv mode.  Use any other mode that you wish to see if the problem persists or goes away.  But first use the “Reset Camera” menu to clear our current setting.

This has happened four times over three days of shooting wildlife in broad daylight. Twice yesterday. R5 with RF 100-500mm L glass.

Settings: FV Shutter @ 1/500, f/6.3 to f/7.1 depending on zoom and ISO set to Auto. After power off/on ISO returns to around 100 or so in the Auto mode. 
Just heard back from Canon CPS Tech Support. They think the image processor may be failing. I’m returning it to Canon for evaluation and/or repair.

Oh, and Canon Tech Support asked me not to change or reset anything on the R5 for their evaluation/diagnostics checks.

I have also seen that happen. ISO seems to get stuck. Selecting ISO using the wheel and then pressing the trash can button seems to fix it for me sometimes, but other times a  power cycle is needed. Also, in Fv mode the auto ISO limits do not seem to behave as described in https://cam.start.canon/en/C003/manual/html/UG-03_Shooting-1_0070.html#Shooting-1_0070_2 and so are different than in Av mode. I had guessed this is intentional and not a bug assuming that "ISO Safety Shift" is not expected in Fv mode, or it might be because I have changed things in the "Custom Functions" menus. https://cam.start.canon/en/C003/manual/html/UG-08_Custom_0030.html#Custom_0030_1

Thanks John. Helps knowing someone else has had this happen to them. I’m at the end of a 15 day photo safari in Kenya and Tanzania. This ISO “stuck” was a pain when it happened yesterday afternoon shooting a pair of cheetahs in Amboseli but I knew by then that cycling the power would fix it. 
Just really annoying to do that in the moment. The R5 is under warranty and needs a cleaning anyway. It will be interesting to hear what Canon says after checking the camera out. 
I was also shooting with my R6M2 and had no issues with similar settings in FV mode.
