Need Suggestions on Cannon EOS Rebel XT and or Lens Options

I have a Cannon EOS Rebel XT.. and I want to take pictures of my grandkids playing sports. Do I need to upgrade or is there a lens that I can buy for indoor and outdoor sports? and for low light settings?

What lens do you have?

With an XT, for low light and to stop action, it would be better to get a new camera. Cameras have greatly improved low-light (high ISO) capabilities in 18 years!

But in your case, I think we can work on the technique a bit. Can you share some images you are disspaointed with?
