My eos digital rebel ds6041 won’t turn on anymore any suggestions?

Basically I left the power button on the on switch overnight unknowingly, and in the morning I switched it off and back on and the camera wouldn't turn on anymore. I have taken the battery, sd card, and lens off overnight for multiple days at a time and it still has not worked. I’ve charged the battery numerous times to 100% and used a multi meter to check the battery voltage and the battery is just fine, does anyone have any recommendations or knowledge on how to get the camera working again it is a canon eos digital rebel DS6041 from 2005.

I would try using a spare battery to see if it can power up. Also there should be a coin cell battery in the camera too. Its located in the battery compartment next to the main battery. Id replace it to be safe that its not dead. Take it out and press the shutter button for 30 seconds and reinstall that battery along with the main battery. Then see if the camera will power up. Also your camera doesn't use an SD Card it uses CF Cards those are today mainly seen in Professional grade cameras. If this doesn't fix it its time to look into a new camera.

I just replaced the coin battery and still nothing. Probably start to look at new cameras if a new main battery and cf card don’t work. Thank you though!

This is the OG Digital Rebel, circa 2000-ish.

It used CF cards. Back when I was a tech, one of the number one things that people had problems with this camera was putting the CF card in slightly improperly, which allowed one of the pins to bend. Some of those pins carry power, so if one pin bends into another that is carrying power, it can cause the main board to short circuit.

To see if this is the issue, take your card out and shine a light down in the slot. You should see two rows of perfectly aligned pins. If you see any space between two of them, it's a bent pin. Basically it will look like :::::::::::::::::::::::::   if you see ::::::::.:::::::::::::::: or :::::/:::::::::::::::::: that's a problem because a pin is missing/bent.

I just checked and no broken or bent pins

A quick question: Where can you purchase a replacement battery for the digital rebel XT? It is a battery pack NB-2LH. My spare has seen it's life expectancy😒. Your help is greatly appreciated. I do not see them on the Canon site. Not sure the Amazon sites are correctly listed.

Nowhere it has long been discontinued and time to look into a replacement. I don't think its still available online since that camera was released in 2005 which 20 years ago. So if you do find a replacement it would be from a 3rd Party manufacturer. There are risks using 3rd Party anything on a camera. There is no guarantee that the camera will work either. At this point replacement will be the best option since its no longer serviceable by Canon.
