I bought the R6ii mainly for event photography. I rented the RF28-70 and was getting great photos until a few hundred shots in, I started seeing these lines in the viewfinder. I tried everything but they don't go away and they also appear on the images. Thoughts? Is this a faulty unit?

Welcome to the forum. Nice camera! Sorry to hear it has issues.
Could you post a sample image that demonstrates the issue. Please allow EXIF data to be attached. My first suspicion is that you could be seeing the side effects of capturing photos under indoor lighting.

Laser damage, if you are the same guy with the same R6 II and the same 28-70 that posted on Reddit.
You will need to replace the sensor.
