Hello,
I was using my Canon camera today as a webcam, connected to a MacBook via the USB cable, when it suddenly froze up (showing the last frame it captured in the LCD screen), then I turned it off.
I replaced the batteries, tried a direct current cable, and even replaced the lens, but it still won’t power on.
I’ve read comments about poking a switch in the battery compartment, but that didn’t work for me either.
The camera is 11 years old, and I’m not sure if it overheated or got fried from being used for too long. I had it on for about an hour.
Can anyone give me some advice or help?
Thanks!

Hello luismillan,
I'm sorry to hear that your camera will no longer power up. Have you tried recharging the battery or using a separate battery? Please make sure that you are using genuine Canon accessories for powering the camera. Also, make sure that all compartments are closed securely. Please check for debris inside the battery compartment where the pins are located and check for debris on the metal contacts on the battery pack. You may use a dry microfiber cleaning cloth to wipe the contacts. Try the camera with just a fully charged battery, no lens, memory card, flash, etc. Is the unit still not powering up? Unfortunately, that would mean there is a problem with the camera.
I've reviewed our service information and Canon no longer provides repairs for the EOS 70D. This camera is considered 'Out of Service Life' and parts are no longer available. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. You do have the Canon Upgrade Program as an option. The Canon Upgrade Program option allows you to replace your current equipment with a new or refurbished Canon unit at a discounted price. If you would like to take part in the Canon Upgrade Program, please call our Sales Department at 1-866-443-8002 from Monday - Friday between 9:00 am to 9:00 pm ET and they can help you with availability and pricing.

Hi John,
Thanks for the throughout response. I tried all your suggestions. Sadly, nothing seems to work yet. I'm afraid it may be the worst case scenario according to what I've been reading where something fried in the circuits.
I appreciate the support.
