I have a rebel t5i that I use to record video of myself with about 6 feet away. I need to be able to see myself in the monitor, make sure things are focused and then record. I have toruble with the lense searching for focus even though I am standing right in front of it with the white box on my face. Because of this I turn off the tracking focus feature. Is there a remote control that can do this? I saw the t-6 cannon remote on amazon but didnt know if this is the right one.
Thanks for the help.

Hi there,
According to the manual (p.307 linked below) the RC-6 remote controller can start movie shooting wirelessly, and as long as your camera is set to autofocus you can hold the remote button down and it will focus before it begins recording.
