Actually the S3is viewfinder is, in essence, Live View.  It's an electric view finder, you're not actually looking through the lens.  That's what makes an SLR an SLR.  And no dSLR can allow you to look through the lens while recording.  The mirror that allows you to look through the lens flips up when taking a photo or recording video.
