How to save custom settings in movie mode on the EOS R6

john42

I had a problem with AF hunting during night movie shots, this has now been resolved by having discussions with persons on this forum page, thank you all very much. However this leads me onto another question which is , I know how to save settings in any of the photo modes using the C1 C2 or C3, but dispite checking on line unable to find a way of saving custom setup whilst in Movie mode. On line they say there is a way but it always refer to the R5 not the R6

Since the original EOS R6 uses a movie position on the mode dial, there is no way you can also use one of the custom modes. Only still modes can be stored to the C1/C2/C3 custom modes. On the EOS R7 and EOS R6 Mk2 there is a separate still / movie mode switch in addition to the mode dial so it’s possible to have custom modes for movies.

I f you want to save your camera settings to the SD card, then that feature is not available on the R6.  It’s not available on the R6ii, either.

I mostly shoot stills now.  I am shooting in a custom shooting mode nearly 100% of the time.  The camera remembers the settings.

I would recommend setting up a custom shooting mode, but I am not sure if the R6 allows that for video.  However, the R6ii does allow it.

Thank you Brian I thought that was answer but no where on line or in the manuals does it say that. Thanks once again 👍👍

You are correct about the manuals, but what you will see is that on the SET UP5 menu, the Custom shooting mode (C1-C3) setting is not displayed when the mode dial is set to the movie position, yet it is shown for the creative still modes  P, Tv, Av, M, Fv, B.
