Thank you! Will be sure to do that!

MY SON JUST RECEIVED HIS T7 REBEL AND HIS 55-250 LENS. THE CAMERA WONT TAKE PHOTOS AND OF COURSE, SINCE IT WAS REFURBISHED DIDNT COME WITH AN INSTRUCTION MANUAL, I WAS GOING TO PRINT ONE OFF BUT ITS 385 PAGES!!!!!!!!!! WHAT SETTING DO YOU ALL RECOMMEND FOR THE AIRSHOW? WE WILL BE PRETTY CLOSE AND THAT NIGHT IT STARTS AT 6PM WITH FIREWORKS AND DRONE SHOW AT 10. ANY RECOMMENDED SETTINGS FOR THAT AS WELL?

Please don't shout.

I would start in P. I have had good l luck with that at airshows *and* fireworks.

He needs to go out and start practicing with whatever time he has.

Sorry, wasn't shouting, I promise, I tend to do all caps pretty frequently. He's trying to do things with his camera but it won't take photos across the house or far away. Edit: he got that part but he's trying to take night time photos and its not working. I'll suggest that to him tomorrow. We're going to go plane spotting to kinda get an idea.

Perfect. Which lenses did he get?

If you share some of the images that are "not working" we might be able to make suggestions. If he got one of the 150-600's, it won't work well in the dark.

I also suggest starting a new topic so it won't get lost in this older one.

Canon EF-S 55-250mm is the one I got him. What setting on this should he have it on for the airshow? Should it be in manual mode, etc. what about fireworks/drone shows? Thank you. I'd rather talk to real people and get feedback then look up so many videos lol.

Do not use manual mode. At this stage he needs to use P.

I agree with staying away from M (Manual mode) for the time being until you son climbs further up the learning curve for his camera.

I also agree that P mode or A+ mode is a good place to start for getting accustomed to using the camera.

I'd like to suggest that to shoot airplanes and other moving objects, use Sports mode (page 70 of the manual) and follow the instructions in the manual.  He may want to practice on bicycle riders, cars, or other "moving objects" and see what happens.

I don't know if you have another lens like the 18-55 kit lens or such (like a 24mm, 50mm lens), but starting out with a 55-250 zoom to learn the camera may be a lot more challenging than with the kit lens or something smaller, lighter and more forgiving.

I don't and dont have the money to get him one.  I got a refurbished no lens camera and no instruction manual. Thank you for your help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please do yourself and your son a favor and download the manual.  The information, direction and guidance contained in it is indispensable.
