How the focus screen should be positioning inside camera? There is a different side latches - one rectangular on the other side trapezoidal, looking from up side down (left side is "Rebel T7" mark at the body) hot to put focus screen inside?

thanks a lot for advice, I think that will go with R50 - it will be probably last camera I will buy

This is incorrect. It IS user replaceable. I've done it on the T7 myself. Everyone needs to stop telling others its not possible, when it is. Its very simple. So simple I could teach my children to do it.

Actually it is true per Canon. They even say it’s not user replaceable like other cameras. Such as the EOS 40D. A lot of newer DSLRs don’t have focusing screens at all. Instead they use an LCD overlay in the viewfinder.

Except the T7 DOES have a focusing screen and NOT an LCD overlay in the viewfinder. I literally did the replacement myself. The focusing screen is a Canon CY3-1833 Focusing Screen. Look it up. Yes, there are some that use the LCD, however, OP is referring to the Rebel T7, and in that case it has the Focusing screen. And just because Canon says its not, doesn't make it true. They say that so you go to them for the costly repair. Just like many other companies who say the same thing about their products. When in fact, much of that is nonsense.

Canon says NO. So stop spreading misinformation. This can greatly affect the camera’s metering. So follow Canon’s advice.

The type of focus screen you use, as long as it's the same type, will not affect how the camera measures the light or calculates the exposure settings. Ergo metering is not affected. Its NOT misinformation if its physically possible to replace the screen yourself. Period.

It is because the camera has to account for a different focusing screen. Also Canon USA doesn’t provide a replacement available to the public. Only Canon knows what the replacement is and how to install it. I don’t recommend trying to replace it.

You're still wrong. It only has to account for different focusing screen if you use a different style of focusing screen. If you're using the exact same kind same model same style it will not need to do that. I'm telling you from experience I have bought the direct replacement and I have repaired it myself with success. I'm done arguing with you because you are wrong. For the last time just because Cannon says no does not mean that is true. End of discussion.

This statement is incorrect. LCD overlay do not replace a focusing screen. The LCD overlay is exactly that. It's a thin plastic film that lays ON TOP of the focusing screen.
The LCD overlay is where the focus spots, gridlines, etc. are produced. I learned this with my 7D, after wondering why the viewfinder is dimmed if the battery is removed (but not when camera is just turned off). Apparently the overlay is powered at all times, which brightens it.

Yes that is true I was just being basic in my response when differentiating cameras with and without it. My 5D Mark IV does the exact same thing when the battery is removed. The lower end and older DSLRs still have regular focusing screens instead of the LCD overlay. Also technically the LCD overlay projection doesn’t sit on top of the focusing screen it’s actually above the viewfinder.
