EOS Rebel T3: Does SD card help with faster shooting?

Zeke2

Does SD card play a factor in how fast you can take pictures because I find that the Canon camera EOs rebel t3 is not the greatest with fast shooting. I do not feel like buying another camera but it’s so slow. I was wondering if the Sd can play a factor by like writing the image faster or something. Someone please help me with this topic!

Greetings,

Using a SD, SDHC or SDXC card with a class10 rating is as fast as you can get.  If this is still too slow, a higher end camera with a faster processor and bus would be the answer.  Depending on the model, they may also use a different card type with a faster write speed.

Zeke2,

A lot of the speed of a camera is the processor.

The T3 has a Digic 4 processor and the maximum continuous shooting speed is 3 frames per second when shooting jpegs. Canon is up to at least a Digic X processor now.

The T3 was released in 2011, so the technology is 13 years old.

It is what it is.

If you want a faster processor, I guess it's time to start saving your pennies.

Ultimately, the maximum read and write speeds are determined by the camera not the SD card.  A faster card will not speed up the camera.  It is not going to go from 3 fps to 8 fps.

"A faster card will not speed up the camera."

But could slow it down, perhaps not in the case of a T3 though.

What is "slow"? Burst mode? AF time?

There are several things that can slow this down. Turn off any lens corrections and try it.
