EOS R7 not recognized by EOS Utility

Jbloo
Apprentice

I use an old Mac with High Sierra for the rare instance when I capture in studio. I have an R7 that shows as "Camera not recognized" even when hooked up via USB. I've updated all the installs and none of the EOS Utility 1, 2 or 3 versions work.

Interestingly, when I open 2, the camera makes a noise. Nothing from 1 or 3. I've uninstalled, reinstalled, restarted etc.

Software installs without warnings.

Mac OS10.13.6, Plenty of Ram and HD space, Canon R7, EF 100-400L IS USM Lens

Anything I'm missing? Thanks for any help.

Hi Jbloo,

EOS Utility 2 cannot recognize newer cameras like the EOS R7, so that software will not work for your camera. The EOS R7 is compatible with EOS Utility 3, but it needs a newer version of the software than what can fun on High Sierra. The version of EOS Utility 3 available for High Sierra is old enough it doesn't have a profile for the EOS R7 and will not recognize it. You would need a computer that has a current operating system to install a version of EOS Utility 3 that can recognize your camera.
