EOS R6 Mark III not tethering in Lightroom Classic

SarahElliott

Hello,

I'm becoming increasingly frustrated with the R6 Mark III. I have tried everything and cannot figure out how to tether to Lightroom classic. I have the most up to date Lightroom Classic...I have the newest firmware on the Canon. The camera is not even being recognized by lightroom. This is literally the only thing I needed this camera to do. Has anyone successfully tethered their camera?

Thanks!

Hi Ernie. The Adobe website lists cameras that are currently supported for tethering. R6M2 is listed;R6M3 is not.

I realize that JRH that why I opined.....

" BTW, the list you offered is not always right up to date. I've been dealing with Adobe far too long to not realize that."

Besides the issue is usually not the connection but rendering the updated CR3 file. Again, I am only relying on past experience with Adobe and Lightroom/Photoshop since I don't have a 6D Mk III to try. I have used LR/PS ever since there was a LR/PS.

If the computer can see the 6D Mk III so should LR but as I said the results may not, probably will not, be good. The OP needs to try it using the correct and proper cable. And the OP needs the most current version of LR. I think 15.3 is the latest. I will need to look to make sure of that.

Look maybe I'm all wet and there is a connection issue associated with the 6D Mk III, but first get the proper cable and LR version and try.  The most current version of ACR is 18.3 (I think?) and is also necessary.

EOS 1DX and many lenses.

I can confirm that my R6M3 will not tether to LrC but will connect to EOSU. Also no problem processing the .CR3 files in LrC.

The Adobe list is current as of April 20, 2026.

Hello,

I use Canon R6 Mk3 and can share an alternative solution - try Cascable application. I have been using it for the last two years successfully and can recommend it. There are sometimes some lags but general experience is positive. And you do not need any cables.

Same. I can use EOS Utility with no problems with the same setup. But when I try to use Lightroom Classic, LRC doesn't recognize the camera. I have tried on two computers-- WIN 64 and ARM. It doesn't work on either. I have an EOS RP and it works on both.

I haven’t tested but according to Terry White Adobe has a new tethering module that no longer relies on the camera SDK.

Lightroom Classic users, rejoice! The June 2026 update (version 15.4) is headed your way this week, and it includes architectural updates and performance boosts we have been waiting years to see. Using Lightroom cloud desktop or mobile? Watch my separate video for those specific features here: ...

Can you go from an SD card in a reader to Lightroom?

Love it.

Sure.  That has always been possible. Tethering allows real time capture. Generally used for studio work.
