EOS R6 Mark II switches to stop-down metering and no full-aperture focus in M

I'm trying to use some of my "extensive collection" of EF-L Series glass on an R6MkII, using Canon's adapter. When I use manual exposure mode - the camera seems to switch to stop-down metering - on the back screen.  I can only get full-aperture focusing using the viewfinder. This is how the "live view" mode works on my other Canon DSLRs - can I assume that full-aperture focusing is available on the mirrorless camera's screen?

Hi and welcome to the community. This sounds a little unusual but maybe a setting and lens limitation that causes this. Conventionally the view in the viewfinder and on the rear LCD is the same.

Firstly what setting do you have set for display simulation? Exposure + DOF has some limitations with EF lenses.

Also do you have optical viewfinder simulation active?

Are you EF lenses in this list of lenses that are compatible with display simulation set to exposure + dof?

EXCELLENT  Brian - you were absolutely right - it was the "Optical Viewfinder Simulation". By default it was set to "EXP SIM". Who knew??!! Seems like the default setting should be "OFF" so you get full - aperture focusing unless you change it. Thanks for the solution! I'm shooting at low angles to the ground - so I was not able to look thru the viewfinder. Again - thanks so much Brian!!

Thanks for attaching the list of compatible EF lenses, Brian.  I wondered why a few of mine were behaving that way.  Now I know they are not compatible.
