EOS R6 Mark II can't find firmware update on card

Kaiserphoto

I bought the EOS R6 Mark II RF24-105mm F4 L IS USM Lens Kit, and the camera's current firmware is 1.6. Under the support tab for this kit, it shows that 1.9.0 is the firmware update, but when I try to update it on the camera, it says it can't find the firmware on the card. I've tried reformatting the card on the computer and camera, but the camera still can't find it. It does not show this update under just the camera, but under the kit. Suggestions?

Greetings,

The links I provided in the post above go directly to the support portal for your body and lens.  When you click on downloads and select firmware the latest version is offered.  (as of today)

v1.6.0 for your body

v2.0.6 for your lens

I'm not sure what you are seeing in your "account", but it sounds like you may have selected / registered the wrong product (body) and kit as there is no firmware v1.0.9 for the R6 Mark II.

Please use the links I provided.

Instructions for performing a firmware update on your body or lens is included with the download.  These are in .pdf format.  Upgrading lens firmware is almost identical to performing a firmware update on your body.  Download package, extract file, copy the lens firmware file to the root of your media card and perform the firmware update process according to the provided instructions with the lens attached to the camera.

If you find that you have made a mistake and registered the wrong product/kit in your MyCanon account, please contact Canon support. They will be able to correct the registration error for you. 1-800-652-2666

Hi Kaiserphoto,

As I pointed out in my other reply, and PM to you, the current firmware for the R6 mkII is v1.6.0.

If your body has this version installed, there is no newer firmware available.  See the downloads here. Expand +Firmware

Canon Support for EOS R6 Mark II | Canon U.S.A., Inc. https://share.google/970sZqDRZ0uc8pX7l

The latest firmware for your lens is v2.0.6

v1.9.0 is for the original R6.  Not the mkII

Make sure you are checking the right camera. For EOS R6 Mark II the current firmware is 1.6.0 as Rick mentioned below. It is possible that looked at the EOS R6 where the latest firmware is actually 1.9.0. This firmware is not compatible with your Mk2 camera.

When I look at the products under my account, the above kit is listed with the R6 MKII. It lists the MKII and the lens with the 1.0.9 firmware. That's the only thing I'm going by as a guide to the firmware for the camera. I don't know how to check or update the firmware for the lens. I'd be happy if someone told me how as I did not know you could update the firmware on a lens.

Thank you so much for your information. I've been a Canon user for a long time, 25 years, as a professional and just recently sold my studio and concentrated more on fun stuff and photographing my daughter in her horse shows. This is my first mirror-less camera and there's a little bit of a learning curve. Thanks again for the quick assist.
