Why are the option for cropping aspect all greyed out in the menu? I want to switch my ##Canon r6II from 1.6 to full..What am I missing?

What lens are you using? If RF-S or EF-S, it will force a full frame R to only use 1.6 crop. There may be other settings that force this, but that is the first thing that popped in my head 🙂

Right now I have the Canon 17-55 2.8 lens on body.

You’re using a lens made for APS-C on a Full Frame camera. The camera will apply a 1.6x crop automatically to avoid vignetting. But this reduces megapixels. The camera has 24 megapixels in Full Frame mode but in 1.6x crop it’s only 9.4 megapixels. I would recommend looking into the RF 24-70mm F/2.8L IS USM or RF 24-105mm F/2.8L IS USM Z lenses as a replacement. To get the most out of the Full Frame sensor in the EOS R6 Mark II.

Thank you! I’m working on replacing my bodies, then lenses. It’s just too expensive for me to update all at once.
I appreciate your reply

If you check your manual you will see that it is noted on page 172, it goes into crop automatically and there is no option to change it while the lens is mounted.

Yes there isn’t a way to use the Full sensor when an APS-C lens attached. The camera is locked into APS-C mode. It cannot be changed.

I have a EF 36mm macro that I use on my R6 MkII all the time and while you end up at 9.4 MP you still get some decent images. The first time I put it on I was trying to switch to FF knowing I would get some vignetting that I thought I would clean up in post.... I was denied!

And yes I was closer to them then I wanted to be....
